In a very well-written article on Europe published in the July 18, 2011 edition of Canadian Business magazine, Conrad Black gives the following description of B.O., in the context of why Europe can't rely on America any more. . . .
"Finally, freakishly, there is an American president who does not want to lead the world, and doesn't want to do anything n the world except get out of Afghanistan and Iraq on an acceptable basis, doesn't care a fig for the western alliance, and doesn't think American strength or leadership is a good thing. He has gone about bowing obsequiously to foreign figureheads and apologizes for some of America's greatest and most internationally respected leaders, including Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, and Dwight D. Eisenhower."
If that's the leadership Americans are looking for, then they can vote for B.O. in 2012 and have four more years of it. But end the end of the day, America will not be anywhere close to its potential or to its past level of prestige in the world. One can be respected without being a doormat. In fact, doormats are never respected. With well-known personalities like Black having these assessments of the American president, do we really expect the likes of Ahmadinejad or the P.A. or Gaddafi or the Egyptians or anyone else to take him and America seriously? I don't think so. Even his own people and many in his own party don't take him seriously.
Okay, I did say more. I'm sorry. But someone has to say "Conrad Black is right on this time!"
