Here's a well kept secret that has been going on for years. And it helps explain both the success of certain movies as well as the fact that more and more secular movie-makers in Hollywood are paying attention to the kinds of films they're making.

Take a look at who won the 19th Annual Movieguide Awards from the Gala held this weekend in Los Angeles.

And by the way, there are still those that pay no attention. Last night I saw a preview of the movie Transformers -- pure garbage -- wait, that's too nice a word. Sometimes people can go through the garbage and find something that will help them survive. In this pile of cinematic frames, there is nothing at all. And be aware lest your children convince you that it's a harmful movie about the little toy transformers they have in their possession and play with when you travel. Consider yourselves warned. No back to the main stage . . .

Big "XXX-Rated" Change at Marriott Hotels: Should Mitt Get the Credit?

Hey, I don't like this reporter's views but we'll take the good news any way we can get it. This is either a big political coup by Mitt Romney or it is a matter of two families getting together and deciding to do what is right. And I for one think that it takes lots of guts to do so. Will this hurt in the pocketbook? Maybe. Maybe not. But it's still the right move.

I'll be strongly recommending the Marriott chain hotels and motels and inns every chance I get.
