What the Israelis Are Thinking w.r.t. Iran and the Palestinians Today

I thought you might want (or need) to know exactly what the Palestinians are thinking -- at least the part they're making public.  This is a good article for just that, written on March 12th, 2012.

It amazes me that over 150 rockets have been aimed and fired at Israel from Gaza in the last two days alone.  This is not a petty little mishap.  But because the Palestinians are not successful in destroying their targets and human causalities are low for Israel, and because Israel's reactive measures are more successful killing more Palestinian terrorists and unfortunately some civilians that are hit, Israel is made to look like the big 'bad guy'.   But hey, that's liberal media.   Nevertheless, take a look at what P.M. Netanyahu is thinking -- he may well be tipping his hand.   Don't say we here at "epistoli" didn't draw it to your attention.

More Indication Israeli IDF Will Move Into Gaza To Stop Rocket Fire

There's Iran and its nuclear arms development to worry about, but Israel is also concerned about the rockets coming from the Gaza Strip. So, watch out. There may be more lights in the sky this Christmas than the stars on the festive trees of any Christians in the area. Things are getting hotter and all indications are the military forces will be seeing some actions. The implications can be significant.

Help the Libyan Rebels Yes, But Not at the Expense of Israel. Guess who's getting Libyan arms -- cheap?

There's a fire sale on Libyan firearms. No sooner are the rebels turning them in and the NTC is selling the arms to Gaza militants, according to a respectable Reuters report. I mean, after all, a country has got to do what a country has got to do to get rid of its military arms, don't you think?

This is a gap in the post-revolution that neither the U.S. nor Nato even thought of closing. Maybe this particular Arab Spring is indeed, as Michael Coren suggested elsewhere, turning into a "Nuclear winter" -- well, at least a "Firearms warmer winter."

The funny thing about all of this is that the Palestinians keep saying "we want peace" and "let's talk".  Sooner or later, we'll learn to discriminate between "people, their leaders, and what their leaders say."

Giving the PA Everything They Want Is Not Enough for the PLO.

Do you get the PA and the PLO mixed up?  Well, let's see if this helps.  Even if the PA gets U.N. recognition for statehood along the pre-1967 lines, the PLO will still demand that millions of Palestinians can return to their original homes inside Israel.  PA which represents 4 million in Gaza and the West Bank is only part of the PLO which represents 8 million Palestinians.  The PLO will continue to function until all Palestinian issues are settled.  Guaranteed job security for the PLO indeed.

One international law expert says Palestinians living outside the Gaza Strip and West Bank will lose their U.N. voice if the PA is granted Palestinian statehood, because the PLO has had 'observer' status at the U.N. since 1974.  Not so, says Abbas of the PA.

Abbas says he has 122 countries in the U.N. supporting his request for statehood, and hopes to get as many as 128.  There are now 193 members according to the available data.  Clearly, the PA will get its request except for one thing -- it also requires the approval of the Security Council, and there any member has a veto.  We're in for interesting times.

Abbas also says he doesn't want to "a clash with America because", get this, "we're not qualified for such a confrontation".   Seriously.  You think?   If they were, I'm sure they would want such a clash.

And watch for Abbas to be defeated as President once statehood is achieved.  Why?  Well, because he has said as long as he's in charge, there won't be an "armed intifada against Israel".

Read much more of the story here . . .

If Israel is Trying To Eliminate Palestinians, the Stats Show They're Failing.

If you ever wanted evidence of how Israel is really trying the Palestinians and other Arabs in Judea and Samaria (in the West Bank and the Gaza) -- take a look at Michael Ordman's blog in this link. He spells it out for you -- but if you're mind is made up, you'll ignore it.

Flotilla. What Flotilla? The latest on how this Flotilla didn't Float.

David Frum in the National Post does a wonderful job of taking us behind the scenes at the little things that took place in Greece, in the courts, at the port, etc., that caused the Flotilla to go Flat.

This news makes the action the Greeks have been taking with respect to the flotilla look like it was the right thing to do.  This is a most interesting report on the UN's report on the blockade and what the impacts are.

William Shakespeare Couldn't Come Up With Irony Like This.

Michael Ross has not only written a great article on shaming the North Americans who find themselves involved in the next flottilla to Gaza, but in so doing he has given us some facts that many do not realize.  This is truly worth reading and then making up your own mind.

As for me, I look at the picture associated with this article and I see what appears to be two things:  First, a bunch of people who hate Israel (or the U.S., or God, or anything that seems supportive of any of the three).  Second, I see a bunch of grown-up (wait for it) -- "beatniks of the 2010's" who don't really have another life to live but to protest and make love.  So sad indeed.  But then again that's just my perception.

The best 4.5 minutes of propaganda rubbish I have ever seen.

Al Jazeera publishes some great stuff as I indicated yesterday on this blog -- you can look for the story on China's Christian churches. But this is total propaganda and they don't even try to disguise it. Take a look.

Helping you stay "on the water" w.r.t. the Gaza "flotilla" story. . .

Here's what the various sides are saying on this big event coming up. You can't watch the event without a program. This is as close we can get to a real 'advance program'.

Most people are seeing this as being less volatile then the last similar event, but I'm not too sure. You decide for yourself. Take a look.

Another Critical Date: May (Gaza & Flotilla of Ships)

Okay, Israel is playing by the rules of being nice. It politely asks the U.N. to do all it can to stop a planned flottilla that is being organized by radical Islamists. If no one stops the flottila dure to arrive in Gaza in May, Israel has indicated they "must act with force against" it. I would say that this qualifies as a clear warning and it will be followed through with. Now, it's up to the U.N. and others to decide whether they'll stop the flotilla. Take a look at the background details in this story.

Wondering How Things Are in Gaza These Days? Let These Reporters Tell You.

This is hard to believe. It was bad enough reading about what Egyptian police were doing recently to female protesters (click here to see how female protesters tested for virginity), but now this action in a part of the world that is trying to gain our sympathy.  I mean don't these security forces know that CNN, for example, is on their side?  I mean really.  Take a look.

Israel Cooperating with Egypt on Gaza Border for good reason.

The Jerusalem Post has a great story on who Israel is co-operating with Egypt for border security during this uprising in Egypt. But it's possible that allies who work together may eventually turn into strange bedfellows.

If At First It Doesn't "Flotilla", Try It Again on the 1st Anniversary Date

With the Israeli report just hot off the press that cleared all IDF troops of any wrong doing with respect to the Flotilla last May, the Palestinian supporters announce a bigger and stronger and more determined Flotilla to reach the Gaza on the Anniversary of the controversial event, this coming May. I can never outguess Israel, but if I were a betting man, I'd be putting some shekels on this one. Israel will defend its right to block the ships trying to land illegally. Keep an eye out for this one -- it will be a great "media" item. And of course, that's exactly what the organizers want.

What's Ahead For Lebanon? Another Gaza?

The Christian Party leader in Lebanon speaks out against the potential of a Hizbullah led Lebanon. Syria is pushing for that very thing. The Christian Party believes the country will fail miserably if that happens.

But the stakes are even higher on the international scene. As things were, Israel had a chance of holding off Lebanon and worrying more about Syria. Now, if Hizbullah rules in Lebanon, it will have two "partners in crime" to deal with simultaneously. And that can't be good for anyone.

As Christians we need to be aware of what is going on and praying that God's Will will indeed be done. Stay tuned and watch the unfolding of events in Lebanon.
