Obama Team worried House & Senate Have Frozen P.A. Aid over bid for statehood.

Amazing. The U.S. including Mr. Obama say they will veto any vote to grant the P.A. full status at the U.N. Because of their bid for that status, U.S. lawmakers have blocked some $200 million in aid. Now Obama is worried for the Palestinians even though they have crossed him by going to the U.N. Go figure.

Everybody else has to play by Obama's tunes when they want aid, everyone except the Palestinians. If they want this, then they should consider the wishes of those who grant it. Otherwise, they seem to be indicating they can go it alone. So, let's let them if they insist.

Clearly, Israel and the P.A. are at another impasse on talks. But it appears Obama will give in to Palestinians on aid, even though they are intentionally trying to bait him and force him to use a veto at the U.N. His leadership strength is again showing troublesome signs to say the least.

PA Won't Stop UN Bid and If U.S. vetoes, they'll keep coming back.

Here you have it folks. The P.A. is hell-bent on going to the U.N. and even if the U.S. vetoes it at the Security Council, they'll be back again and again until they get what they want.

It reminds me of Turkey who has recently expelled the Israeli Diplomatic staff in Turkey even though the U.N. report ruled Israel had a legal right to block the Flotilla heading to Gaza from Turkey in 2010.

Both remind me of spoiled little brats (a.k.a. children). Stamina is good, however, as long as you're prepared to suffer the consequences of your insistence.

On the other hand, the U.S. is desperately trying to get another peace talk initiative going in lieu of the U.N. bid by the Palestinians. The question is why? I can only guess.

Barack Obama is worried that he is expected to veto the U.N. vote in favor of statehood for the Palestinians as he had promised; but he's afraid of what his leftist and liberal and unionist and Islamic-friendly (all of them together) supporters will think of him come election time if he has to do that.

Talk about being between a rock and a hard place.   Oh, well, there's another adage that goes something like this: "you reap what you sow".   Enjoy the harvest, Mr. President.   Here are the details:

Giving the PA Everything They Want Is Not Enough for the PLO.

Do you get the PA and the PLO mixed up?  Well, let's see if this helps.  Even if the PA gets U.N. recognition for statehood along the pre-1967 lines, the PLO will still demand that millions of Palestinians can return to their original homes inside Israel.  PA which represents 4 million in Gaza and the West Bank is only part of the PLO which represents 8 million Palestinians.  The PLO will continue to function until all Palestinian issues are settled.  Guaranteed job security for the PLO indeed.

One international law expert says Palestinians living outside the Gaza Strip and West Bank will lose their U.N. voice if the PA is granted Palestinian statehood, because the PLO has had 'observer' status at the U.N. since 1974.  Not so, says Abbas of the PA.

Abbas says he has 122 countries in the U.N. supporting his request for statehood, and hopes to get as many as 128.  There are now 193 members according to the available data.  Clearly, the PA will get its request except for one thing -- it also requires the approval of the Security Council, and there any member has a veto.  We're in for interesting times.

Abbas also says he doesn't want to "a clash with America because", get this, "we're not qualified for such a confrontation".   Seriously.  You think?   If they were, I'm sure they would want such a clash.

And watch for Abbas to be defeated as President once statehood is achieved.  Why?  Well, because he has said as long as he's in charge, there won't be an "armed intifada against Israel".

Arab League Drafting PA statehood application to UN

As of Wednesday, August 3, 2011 here are where things stand with respect to the wording of the application. There's no actual wording just yet, but you get to find out who the drafters may be and who is not yet committed. Could help you predict the outcome. Take a look.

Ball Slyly Thrust Into Israel's Court

And why do I think this all stinks -- because an official spokesperson for the National Security Council said he can't comment because what Simon said was off the record. Well, at least Wikileaks folks won't get nailed for this one. But isn't it interesting how officials can leak and then claim 'no comment' but when the public succeeds in finding out the truth, all hell breaks loose?

I don't know about you, but from my perspective, reading between the lines tells me that the current U.S. administration is progressively becoming less trustworthy on any matter. But hey, you decide for yourself. Here's the link to the article.

Why September 2011 is Critical For Israel and the Palestinians

Let me net this out for you, with of course, some of my own commentary.  Then you can read the nitty-gritty details for yourself from a rather well-informed article by Haaretz.  But here are the key points:

  1. If the U.N. declares a state for Palestinians within the 1967 borders, as the Palestinian Authority is insisting it does this September by a vote, then Israel will take its own unilateral action.
  2. Some U.N. members are encouraging the Palestinians to forgo negotiations with Israel and to pursue recognition by the U.N.
  3. Israel says that violates the Oslo Accords and will lead to violence on the ground.
  4. One diplomat of the U.N. said in light of no progress in negotiations, it is likely most U.N. members will vote for Palestinian recognition.
  5. No actual decision yet made by Israel but some options include: applying Israeli law to the West Bank or annexing major settlement blocs to Israel.
  6. September is pivotal because last September B.O. told U.N. general assembly he wished to see a Palestinian state become a member of the UN within a year.  (Watch him deal with this one. Clearly, he won't be vetoing any such move even if he could and he can't.)
  7. Also, parties had agreed talks they started last September would last about one year.
  8. Third, Palestinian program for establishing institutions needed by a new state wraps up this Septemeber.
  9. Palestinian Authority (P.A.) President Abbas has told former Israeli leaders (he doesn't seem to talk to the current one) no further talks after this September.  Other P.A. officials have added, if progress is being made, they'll defer the vote request at the U.N.
  10. Also P.A. seems to be saying could talk for three months (June, July, August) but Israel would have to suspend all construction in the West Bank.
  11. If so, P.A. would not renew violence against Israel (at least they're admitting they do cause it).
  12. Currently no direct contacts between the parties.
So there you have it, folks.  The clock is ticking towards September.  For the first time this appears to be a real deadline.  If the U.N. declare a Palestinian statehood, on what is currently Israeli ground, then Israel has no choice but to take unilateral action.  So, it seems (one can never be sure) that this September timetable has some significance.  Both parties, but especially the P.A. and all their U.N. supporters are getting very impatient.  If Israel is smart, it will have them "throw the first boulder."

For Now, the "Quartet" says "No" to Palestinian State Recognition.

Don't hold your breath -- this is likely not permanent. Basically, they're (U.N., U.S., EU, and Russia) saying "in light of the developments in Egypt, the two sides -- Israel and the Palestinians -- must get back to negotiations right away. Time is precious. Really!!!!????

Will Not Heeding Bill Clinton's Advice Mean Curtains for Israel? Ask God.

Okay, the Palestine Papers are out there and somebody has to make good use of them.  Why not Bill Clinton on behalf of his buddy, B.O.?  The unofficial and indirect pressure on Israel has begun in public at the Davos Economic Forum in Switzerland.

By having Bill do this, rather than the administration, the United States can maintain it's apparent friendship with Israel while pressuring it nicely to satisfy the 'other side'.

But read Bill's words carefully.  He says the "public" on both sides would support a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians.  But the "public" is not who Israel is worried about.  It's the Palestinian and Arab and radical Islamic factions that want to see them eliminated from the face of the earth and the Western allies that haven't promised to defend Israel if they try.   (Why even today when accusations were made that Hizbullah was supplying the trainers for the Palestinians in Gaza, Hamas basically said "no, ain't true; we're doing it all ourselves."  Doing what?  Getting ready to take Israel on.)

So, mister Ex-almost impeached-President, just keep your advice to yourself, thank you.  And try to keep the senile Mr. Jimmy Carter quiet as well, while you're at it.  What really matters (well, a little more) is what the current President thinks and will do.  But then, again, I admit, that B.O. is not sharp on foreign relations, so we can only assume that the less he says, the better.

Anyway, Mr. William Clinton is advising Israel to settle now while they have the friendliest opponents in the current Palestinian negotiating team.   Really?  Now if they don't listen to Bill, will BO start the official pressure?  Who knows.  He's too busy watching claims for unemployment insurance rise again and also watching his popularity or job approval fall from the rise it had after the Tucson event.  Or if they don't listen to Bill, will the U.S. quit helping? (I doubt it; think of how many political aides would become unemployed).  Or maybe, just maybe, if they don't listen to Bill, it will mean curtains for Israel.  Not sure.  The U.S. will have to ask their Boss, but then again God may not recognize the White House telephone number and not bother answering.

In case you really want to see what Bill had to say, take a look at the link below.

P.A. Furious at Paper that Leaked the Palestine Papers.

What a mess! A network (Al-Jazeera) operating in the West Bank is the target of P.A. rhetoric about releasing the Palestine Papers, a ten-year confidential record of Middle East negotiations.  At the same time the Arabs are saying "we don't keep secrets from our brothers" meaning other Arabs.  But I guess they kept these secrets.  Now somebody has to decide how to deal with AlJazeera.   The plot thickens.  But bottom-line -- none of this is good for the chances of peace in the Middle East.  But once again, some of us knew this years ago.

Russian Leader Visits Middle East, Recognizes P.A. State, Avoids Israel, Builds Stronger Ties with Iran

Here's a fine summary of what is happening and how it ties in with Biblical prophecy from the book of Ezekiel. Take a look and then keep watching global events prove the Bible. You can't beat this summary in my opinion.

Palestinian Flag Flies In Washington at P.A. diplomatic mission

Does the raising of its flag in Washington, USA mean the PA is one step closer to being recognized as a state? I believe the answer is 'yes'. Sooner or later, rightly or wrongly, the world, or the majority of the world will (if it hasn't already) accept the PA as leading a Palestinian Statehood. There is no doubt in my mind that this will happen, as an official act endorsed by the U.S., perhaps all too soon.

It is not clear what that would mean immediately for Israel and her future. Much will depend on who is in power in Israel at the time. The reaction may be drastic if someone even more conservative than Netanyahu is in power. It may be too accepting if someone too far to the left is in power. It is difficult to know what Netanyahu himself would do.

One thing is for certain, many in Israel will, from that moment on, know (if they don't already sense it now), that they are, in many respects, truly alone. And it will be up to them to undertake whatever action is necessary to achieve whatever goals they desire to pursue. That much I can assure you.

There is of course a third course that is above and beyond all the planning and scheming of governments -- American, Palestinian, and even Israeli -- it is the plan of God for Israel, His plan for the land He promised them and for its role with respect to the future of the entire world. Stay tuned.

Plot Thickens in the Middle East as P.A. to go to U.N.

Keep an eye on this: Palestinian Authority ignores the request of the U.S. to not seek a U.N. Security Council decision on the Israeli settlements. P.A. hopes the U.S. will not veto the resolution that many other countries will support. This will undoubtedly put the U.S. in a very difficult position. And depending on what the U.S. does, it may put Israel in an even more difficult position. Well worth watching.
