Have the Palestinians Hit a Dead End at the UN?

Whether it is the written lines or the spoken ones, it appears that the PA has hit a road block for now on its bid to get statehood at the UN. Their choices are simple: try it again, go for recognition with UN agencies, as they did with UNESCO recently (but of course that cut off a lot of aid from the U.S. and stopped any increases of aid from countries like Canada), or they can get good and mad and turn to more radical segments of Islam for support -- i.e. Iran who is currently busy pursuing nuclear arms.

What is interesting in this short article and video clip is how the various parties at the Security Council are currently voting or not. Also, of interest, is how all this will play out for Mahmoud Abbas, the PA president and his Fatah party.

Of course, what really matters is what all this means for the peace of Jerusalem in the long run. By the way when you watch the video, presented by Al Jareeza no less, of how tough life really seems for the Palestinians. I didn't see too much hardship but if you do, let us know.

PA statehood bid on (indefinite?) hold.

Wondering what's going on with the United Nations' Security Council vote on admitting the Palestinians into the UN? This article tells you as much as there is to know. Take a look.

Obama Team worried House & Senate Have Frozen P.A. Aid over bid for statehood.

Amazing. The U.S. including Mr. Obama say they will veto any vote to grant the P.A. full status at the U.N. Because of their bid for that status, U.S. lawmakers have blocked some $200 million in aid. Now Obama is worried for the Palestinians even though they have crossed him by going to the U.N. Go figure.

Everybody else has to play by Obama's tunes when they want aid, everyone except the Palestinians. If they want this, then they should consider the wishes of those who grant it. Otherwise, they seem to be indicating they can go it alone. So, let's let them if they insist.

Clearly, Israel and the P.A. are at another impasse on talks. But it appears Obama will give in to Palestinians on aid, even though they are intentionally trying to bait him and force him to use a veto at the U.N. His leadership strength is again showing troublesome signs to say the least.

What Exactly PLO will do at UN next week.

It's official. The PA going for full recognition at the U.N. which means they need to get 2/3rds of the vote in the General Assembly and then Security Council approval. They'll succeed at the Assembly but be vetoed by the U.S. at the Security Council.

The result will they that they'll settle for non-member observer status at the U.N. akin to that of the Vatican. (It's clear whether or not they'll need to re-apply for that.) If they get this status of non-member observer, not much will change tangibly, only politically. And they will have served their goal of making the U.S. the big, bad, ugly bogeyman that is against the Arabs.

Interesting times in the next few weeks. But don't expect the map of the Middle East to change any time soon. The details for the facts of the story are in the link below. You'll need to discern the "truth" as you seek the story's significance and meaning. And you can be sure, there is one -- this is part of the earth that God has a special vested interest in.

PA Won't Stop UN Bid and If U.S. vetoes, they'll keep coming back.

Here you have it folks. The P.A. is hell-bent on going to the U.N. and even if the U.S. vetoes it at the Security Council, they'll be back again and again until they get what they want.

It reminds me of Turkey who has recently expelled the Israeli Diplomatic staff in Turkey even though the U.N. report ruled Israel had a legal right to block the Flotilla heading to Gaza from Turkey in 2010.

Both remind me of spoiled little brats (a.k.a. children). Stamina is good, however, as long as you're prepared to suffer the consequences of your insistence.

On the other hand, the U.S. is desperately trying to get another peace talk initiative going in lieu of the U.N. bid by the Palestinians. The question is why? I can only guess.

Barack Obama is worried that he is expected to veto the U.N. vote in favor of statehood for the Palestinians as he had promised; but he's afraid of what his leftist and liberal and unionist and Islamic-friendly (all of them together) supporters will think of him come election time if he has to do that.

Talk about being between a rock and a hard place.   Oh, well, there's another adage that goes something like this: "you reap what you sow".   Enjoy the harvest, Mr. President.   Here are the details:

You Didn't Hear About Lebanon's Veto at Security Council on CNN, did you?

By the way, when September 20 comes and the U.S. vetoes the Statehood declaration of the PA at the United Nations' Security Council as they indicated they would some time ago (although very silent about that lately), will anyone remember how the other side uses its vetoes. Anyway, here's one you may enjoy that's very recent.

The interesting thing is we do not hear about these readily on the mainstream media. But we dig them out for you right here on Epistoli. (All this to say "here's more reason for a strong alternative media that's not only right in accuracy, but it's also 'right' in perspective.)

We Now Have a Date for Possible Palestinian Statehood (Operative Word is Possible) and What Happens the Morning After.

Here two very interesting articles from the Jerusalem Post on the issue of Palestinian Statehood. The first gives you the background of the chosen date and who will say what and do what on that date. The current consensus is that the United States will still veto the move at the Security Council. But if the General Assembly votes highly in favor of the declaration, then the U.S. will continue to look bad and become even more hated by the enemy (and I use that word intentionally). It's not a good situation unless the majority of the western world and many others vote against the resolution. Mark your calendars for September 20th. Here are the details in the link immediately below and then check out my comment on the second link. . . .

'Palestinians set date for stateh... JPost - Diplomacy & Politics

The second article I have linked my blog to is one about what happens as soon (and if) the Palestinians are granted statehood by the United Nations on September 20th.  By any account, it may not be a pretty picture.   But at least we all know the key date we have to look forward to (well, not exactly, but what will be will be and what must come to pass, will come to pass).  How far all of this will move God's Eternal Clock forward, I do not know, but I can assure you that nothing will take place without His awareness and His allowing it, and nothing will be contrary to His Master Plan.   Here's the second the link:

Calif. Law Requires Textbooks to Describe GBLT Contributions

Please someone help me out here.  On the one-hand they want us to think of GBLTs are perfectly okay and part of the general populace.  On the other they want special treatment in our educational institutions, history, and textbooks.  Say again.

I think we should have listed in all textbooks, the contributions of tall people, short people, obese people, blind people, physically handicapped people, and so on.  I thought people were people when it comes to accomplishments and contributions.  Otherwise, we're going to have competitions.  The straight scientists contributed the following cures to the diseases suffered by Californians and the GBLT scientists contributed these.  Come on folks.  How blind and stupid can we be?   This is ridiculous -- but then again people with an agenda usually are.

I hope Governor Brown will veto this stupidity.  And the rest of you say what?

Ball Slyly Thrust Into Israel's Court

And why do I think this all stinks -- because an official spokesperson for the National Security Council said he can't comment because what Simon said was off the record. Well, at least Wikileaks folks won't get nailed for this one. But isn't it interesting how officials can leak and then claim 'no comment' but when the public succeeds in finding out the truth, all hell breaks loose?

I don't know about you, but from my perspective, reading between the lines tells me that the current U.S. administration is progressively becoming less trustworthy on any matter. But hey, you decide for yourself. Here's the link to the article.

What's Going On With Weekly U.S. Budget Stopgaps?

Here's the recap to date: B.O. has already approved two stopgap budgets. The one just passed in the House would be the third one presented to him if indeed the Senate agrees with and passes it. B.O. wants a budget that takes the country to the end of September, its fiscal year, not one a week at a time. As a result he and White House staff have said he will "veto" this one even if the Senate passes it.

If the Senate passes this, the troops and other crucial services keep getting paid. If the Senate turns this down, or B.O. vetoes it, they don't. It's that simple. But is it really.

First, the Republicans are counting on several in the Senate to put pressure on Harry Reid's Dem. side to pass it so key people will get paid. But B.O. and the top Dems. are really hoping they don't.

Here's their plan as I see it. "Well, people, we've passed two of these now to show good faith, and we can't keep doing this. So we've stuck our neck out hoping the American people will understand we can't spend all our time every week dealing just with the budget, and we've stopped this one. Yes, the government has been shut down, but hey, blame the Republicans." That's their plan.

But will people blame the Replublicans? Some will, but not the majority. They know the U.S. deficit is out of control and what B.O. is to put it further out and more in debt with no real plan to decrease the deficit and get out of debt. Just spend out way into oblivion. The majority are supporting the Republicans on this and that's why 15 Democrats in the House voted with the G.O.P.  whereas only 6 Republicans voted with the Dems.  (That's two and a half time the Dems. that switched on this one than the Republicans.  That should tell them something.)  The overall vote was 247 for, 181 against.  Now it's up to the Senate and B.O.

The Republican position is this:  "Which part of no more taxes and no increased debt don't you understand?   If you're not going to get serious and give us the cuts we need to deliver that to the people, than you can shut the government down if you want or let us do it -- either way we don't care; the people are with us and that's what we were elected to do.  You can blame us if you like.  And yes, we're giving you this opportunities of stopgap budgets to save your hide and to be able to pay the people that are critical to running and protecting this country.  We'll do it as long as we have to."

So there you have it folks.  I'm hoping more and more will understand that White House games should be saved for the White House lawn just like JFK used to play with his children.  They're not appropriate for the White House to play in the Congress.   B.O. this will backfire on you big time.

This link below takes you to some of the details.
