The Commonalities of Adultery, Child Sacrifice, Practicing Homosexuality, & Bestiality

Laws against – Adultery, Child Sacrifice, Practicing Homosexuality, & Bestiality
Leviticus 18:20-30
Day ten of our 14-day self-quarantine because of the coronavirus pandemic. I would never want to suggest that the quantity of sin one commits has an impact on a person’s state of being a sinner or his/her need for forgiveness, but the thought did occur to me that with all this self-isolation and social distancing going on in the world, the amount of sin along the lines of our passage today that is taking place globally must have dropped somewhat. Maybe now is a good time for many to understand that finds all these things to be an abomination, period.
It is also interesting to note that this passage may have an explanation, not for the scientific physical reason for Covid-19, but perhaps the reason as to why God is allowing it. Read on and decide for yourself.
The Passage
20 “You shall not have intercourse with your neighbor’s wife, to be defiled with her. 21 You shall not give any of your offspring to offer them to Molech, nor shall you profane the name of your God; I am the Lord. 22 You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination. 23 Also you shall not have intercourse with any animal to be defiled with it, nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it; it is a perversion.
24 ‘Do not defile yourselves by any of these things; for by all these the nations which I am casting out before you have become defiled. 25 For the land has become defiled, therefore I have brought its punishment upon it, so the land has spewed out its inhabitants. 26 But as for you, you are to keep My statutes and My judgments and shall not do any of these abominations, neither the native, nor the alien who sojourns among you 27 (for the men of the land who have been before you have done all these abominations, and the land has become defiled); 28 so that the land will not spew you out, should you defile it, as it has spewed out the nation which has been before you. 29 For whoever does any of these abominations, those persons who do so shall be cut off from among their people. 30 Thus you are to keep My charge, that you do not practice any of the abominable customs which have been practiced before you, so as not to defile yourselves with them; I am the Lord your God.’”

Thoughts on the Passage
Adultery

Verse 20 is pretty straight-forward. We are not to have sexual relationships with the wife of another man. (And one could assume that is also true for the opposite sex – a woman is not to have sexual intercourse with the husband of another woman.) We already know from the first 19 verses of this chapter that we are not to have sexual relations with any of our kin related by blood or marriage. There is the issue of who is our “neighbor” and whether or not sexual intercourse is permissible with the wife of someone who is not our neighbor. I believe that God intended all of us to live in harmony around the world as, if not brothers and sisters, certainly as neighbors. We read in Romans 12:18 “If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.” So, that means the emphasis in the lesson here in Leviticus 18:30 is not so much the idea of a ‘neighbor’s wife’ as it is that we are not to sleep with someone who is married, period. And that goes for single people sleeping with a person who is married to someone else. You can ignore what the Scripture says (at your own peril) but you can’t argue that it doesn’t say that.
Child Sacrifice and Abortion
Now in the very next verse (21) God says we are not to participate in any form of child sacrifice. That’s a no-no and I am sure that few, if any, of the readers of this study are involved in that. Most readers would find that to be an atrocity today and totally unacceptable to most men, let alone God.  And they would be right. The fact that we often miss, however, is where God places these things in His Word. The declaration of this abomination of child sacrifice (which most of us would not do) is sandwiched right in between the idea of adultery and homosexuality and then bestiality. God views all of these the same and to partake in them is to “profane the name of your God” (verse 21).
While we are on the subject of child sacrifice, I must admit that it is an easy leap for me to jump to thoughts of abortion. We may not see that as child sacrifice but think about it for a moment.  In the process of abortion, we are sacrificing the life of an unborn (or nowadays even a child that is about to be born). Yes, you say, but there is no idol god involved. Ah, but isn’t there? Isn’t the person having the abortion acting like a god? Or the father who is forcing the woman to have an abortion like a god? Or the whole idea of the warped concept of feminism, the god in this case? To me, at least, there are a lot of parallels.
Homosexuality
Then in verse 22 we come to the matter of sleeping with someone of the same sex. Now I do not want to get into the issue here of whether homosexuality or lesbianism is something a person is born with or something they acquire a need for due to their environmental upbringing. I have my own views on that, but I don’t pretend to solve the matter for the world when some brilliant minds on either side can’t come to an agreement, for a host of reasons. Nevertheless, whether there is a genetic or environmental cause to being non-heterosexual, it is not the condition that is being address in verse 22 of this chapter, but the practice of it. God finds the practice to be an abomination, period. I believe we can hold that view and still love a person who practices this sin just as we love any other type of sinner, or better still, just as we love ourselves.  And if you want the ultimate comparison, just as Christ loved and love us and them, when He died on the cross for them. That does not mean I condone what they are doing. Christ did not condone what the scribes and pharisees did, but He prayed to His heavenly father that they would be forgiven.  So we too are to views those we know who are homosexuals, even practicing ones, in that light.  We are to pray for their repentance, and forgiveness, but in the process, we are to continue to love them. I think you get the point.
Bestiality
Through social media and the Internet, we are becoming more and more aware of all things weird and not so wonderful. Bestiality seems to be one of those. But we note here that it has been around since the days the Israelites were in Egypt and then in the wilderness.  Verse 23 tells us to not even think of it. God calls it a perversion.  Sadly, much of mankind has lost its moral compass and perversion is what it seems to hunger for. One only needs to follow some of Hollywood’s less-brilliant celebrities (or even the smarter ones under the influence of Satan) these days to discover that.
What All These Have in Common and the Outcome
In short, all the commands of chapter 18 are intended to preserve the honor of the marriage bed.
In verses 24-30 of the chapter, God makes the following clear about the practice of any of these things:
·      Doing any one of them causes us to be defiled. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines being defiled in many ways. These include:
o   to make unclean or impure: such as
§  to corrupt the purity or perfection of
§  to violate the chastity or virginity of
§  to make physically unclean especially with something unpleasant or contaminating
§  to violate the sanctity of
§  to sully, dishonor (as one’s reputation)
o   pick your choice.
·      These things make “lands” defiled and God brings punishment on them (verse 25); punishment that causes the land to “spew” out its inhabitants (that is, they die)
·      We, on the other hand, are to keep His laws against these (verse 26) so that we do not get spewed out or die.
·      Committing these things does cut us off from being the people of God (verse 29)
·      And why, because as He says, “I am the Lord your God.”
Does any of the above sound familiar to us today? There are a lot of practices of humanity that seem to defy God, but the violation of these laws seems to be so prevalent these days – it is even flaunted in many cases. Whether or not there is a connection between what is happening to our land once again, I will leave up to you to decide. Each one of us has their own views on that. And perhaps the real answer is not cut and dry one way or another.  But any correlation is worth it, especially if its consideration takes you, and me, and others closer, or back to, what God intended for us.  Hang in there but do think on these things.
Thankfully, while the practice of these things may cause defilement, God provides a way out for us through Jesus Christ. In that, we can rejoice.

The Rewards of Obedience, Not Sin -- Exodus 1:18-20

So the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said to them, “Why have you done this thing, and let the boys live?”  And the midwives said to Pharaoh, “Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are vigorous, and they give birth before the midwife can get to them.”  So God was good to the midwives, and the people multiplied, and became very mighty.

A king gives a direct order and those charged to carry it out disobey.  The king has them brought before him (we assume but can’t verify it is the same two he originally gave the order to) and asks them to explain why they did not do as commanded.  So the midwives start to tell the Pharaoh that they could not kill the male infants as the Hebrew women, due to their ‘vigor’, would give birth before the midwives arrived and thus there was no way to accommodate the king once the child had been passed over to the waiting hands of family and others.

Three issues arise in my mind with this response or interchange between the midwives and the Pharaoh.  The first is that their actual words may well be what gives rise to the thinking of some commentators that the two midwives were indeed Egyptian and not Hebrew, otherwise they would much less likely to have so boldly told the Pharaoh that Hebrew women were superior to the Egyptian ones, unless they themselves were Egyptian.  (However, their names, Shiphrath and Puah, being Hebrew ones, are more likely to place the midwives among the Hebrews.)

The second issue that arises is that while the midwives ‘feared God’ and thus took the action they believed He would have preferred and let the male babies live, they seem to have had no problem in lying to the Pharaoh.  (This assumes that they did lie; one commentator I refer to below indicates this may not have been the case.) Let us for the moment assume that they did lie.  This type of action continues to present difficulty for some readers.  It is especially troublesome when it is immediately followed with the phrase “So God was good to the midwives.”  The question before us is this: Does God condone lying in certain situations?  Such a question is even more relevant today for Christians as we are faced with the knowledge that many Muslims believe and admit that lying “for the sake of Allah’s will” is perfectly acceptable for Muslims.  Christians on the other hand are taught that we should not lie (one of the ten commandments we will encounter later in our study) and that our “yes should be yes, and our no, no”.  So, how then do we deal with such reports of God “blessing” those that lied?  Clearly, this is not the first place in Scripture where we came across this.  You may remember that Abraham lied, Jacob cheated, and so on in Genesis, yet God blessed them.

When I wondered about how I would handle this issue again at this point of our study, some suggested that I simply state that God’s ways are not our ways and this is one of the mysteries of Scripture that we do not understand at this point in time.  Unconvinced, I was not willing to give up that easily.  These midwives appear to have lied and the text says, “So, God was good to” them.  You can’t avoid that, no matter how you try to rationalize it.  It’s a possibility.
In an article entitled, “Did God Reward Midwives for Lying?” Jason Jackson writing in ChristianCourier.com has much to offer us in understanding this dilemma (and also the one about the prostitute Rahab’s lying later in the Old Testament, as well as the lying of Ananias and Sapphira in the New Testament).  He writes:

“First of all, the midwives may have told the truth. It may have been the case that the Hebrew women, fearing the commandment of the king, did not call for the midwives in a timely way.  Second, one is not obligated to tell all he or she knows. Withholding information is not necessarily falsehood (cf. Luke 23:9).  Third, if one believes that the midwives were deceptive, he must understand that they were rewarded for their works, not their words.  They were blessed for refusing to murder the babies.  All who are rewarded by God, in any age, are blessed in spite of their sins, based upon the gracious forgiveness of God.”

Lest we as New Testament Christians get carried away thinking we can lie our way to blessings, Jackson adds, “The Lord, however, is not arbitrary in dealing with sin. As Paul observed, God is just, and the justifier of them that have faith in Jesus, whom he sent to be a propitiation for our sins (Romans 3:23-26).  Bible narratives often relate events without passing a moral judgment on the circumstances.  Similarly, Rahab was justified by her works — not by her words of deception.

“Fourth, one must remember that these individuals, the midwives and Rahab, were not New Testament Christians. God tolerated certain things, like polygamy, in Old Testament times — the times of ignorance. But now, in the light of the gospel, he commands all men everywhere to repent and live according to the high moral standard of Christianity (Acts 17:30; Titus 2:11-12). Additionally, not all is settled in this life. Justice will be equally dispensed on the Judgment Day (2 Corinthians 5:10).

“Fifth, the case of Ananias and Sapphira is not parallel. These individuals were New Testament Christians who lived in the light of the Gospel Age. They lied for the sake of financial gain, pride, and a desire for prominence within the church.  But the midwives, who lived in Old Testament times, may have used deception to save their lives. They refused to murder. The cases simply are not parallel.  It is incorrect to say that God rewarded the midwives for lying. The Bible does not affirm that conclusion.  The Lord blessed them for their refusal to kill baby boys — for their interest in obeying God rather than man.”

I agree with Jackson, but add my own perspective as follows.  I believe God loves us so much that while He hates any sin, he is more concerned with our obedience.  He wants the sin to be recognized, repented for, and stopped.  Then like a great Father, He does not neglect to bless us as we give Him our Heart and obey Him going forward.

Note to readers: Some of you who know have followed some of my writings on social media and elsewhere may well ask me the following question: “Why not apply the thinking you laid out above to homosexuality and homosexuals?”  Here is my response: I do, totally.  God hates the sin of homosexuality and He loves the homosexuals.  He wants them to recognize their sin (as we all have to do), repent for it, and stop repeating it.  And I believe they can do that if they give God their heart and want to obey Him.  Then His blessings are all theirs as they are ours.

Since when do opposing ideologies (e.g. gay-straight) lend themselves to alliances? There is an alternative.

Ontario Liberal Premier Dalton McGuinty is forcing all public schools (including those associated with the Catholic School Board) in Ontario to allow and host "gay-straight alliances".   He must be taking lessons from President Barack Obama in the United States who is forcing Catholic entities to provide birth control coverage in their employee health benefits -- and that likely goes for nuns in convents.  It's clear the small 'l' liberals have it out for Catholics and the whole Christian world with them.

The Catholic Board trustees have responded with an adamant "no" to the Premier in a twelve-page letter.  And at least one liberal pundit has the gall to suggest they lack "charity and clarity" and says their latest  "diktat" (an order or decree imposed by someone in power without popular consent) is just verbose and obstinate.  Let me give you the reference for that just in case I'm accused of making it up.  It's Martin Regg Cohn in the January 31, 2012 issue of the Toronto Star.   He goes on to say the Catholic Church which preaches sexual "abstinence until marriage" is being inconsistent when they then turn around and teach sex education in high school.  And so if they're inconsistent then, they can behave similarly about this issue of "gay-straight alliances" or clubs in schools.   Now there's a lot of sense for you.  First there's no inconsistency about the Church's position.  Second, there is no comparison between the two issues.  Abstinence is followed by marriage which is followed by sex.  It is appropriate to have sex education prior to sex and thus since many these days get married after high school -- the best place to have it is in high school.

While abstinence, marriage, and sex have a sequence that is common and thus a more natural relationship with each other, gay-straight are two opposing sets of behavior notwithstanding those that choose to participate in both sexual currents.

But that's not what I'm all excited about.  The premier believes and promotes one thing: no bullying and especially no bullying against gays and lesbians, etc.   The Catholic Trustees must stay true to the beliefs of their Church and doctrine.   Now, why can't we all get along and find some common ground that will take care of everybody?   "Just how do you do that?" you may well ask.

Well, for starters Dalton feel free to force all school boards to be against "bullying" and yes, especially "bullying against gays and lesbians".  Fair game.  Don't tolerate bullying under any circumstance.

School boards, including you Catholic ones, must take every action to stop bullying, especially against gays and lesbians, and find ways to determine it's presence and then to penalize offenders.  Necessary game.

But Mr. Premier -- stop telling people how to accomplish what you want.  Just charge them and hold them responsible for results.  You're micro-managing.

And besides, who said that alliances with respect to fundamental ideological issues can work?  You cannot mix water and oil.  If you could, then there would never have been a North and South Korea, there would never be Sunni and Shia factions of Islam, or currently a Pakistan and India, or one I am more familiar with -- a Turkey and Greece.   Surely we should have learned something from the decades old mother of all non-alliances -- the Jews and the Palestinians.

Shame on Martin Regg Cohn for his weak arguments.  Shame on Premier McGuinty for micro-managing.  Shame on Obama for taking on the Church to advance his own political ideology.  It's time we agreed on the end goal, and not force on various religious entities the ways and means to achieve them.  If we do, we're not just pursuing a better world for all, but we're pursuing an agenda for some.

As a Christian, my responsibility is to treat a GLBT individual as a human being whom God loves for that is what he/she is.  I do not need a forced gay-straight alliance club to do that.  My responsibility is not to help him/her feel better simply by condoning that which God speaks against which is what he/she does.  Forcing the Catholic School Board to have such alliance clubs is doing just that.

Is This a "Twisted Twist" Landmark Gay Hatred Case?

The Jerusalem Post, of all media, has an interesting article today on a recent court ruling in the UK. Here's the quick review:

1. During a protest against a forthcoming Gay Pride parade, Muslims hand out pamphlets titled: "Death Penalty?" which state that gays would go to hell.

2. The men are found guilty of "stirring up hatred" by "calling for the death of homosexuals".

3. Britain has a new law (2010) which makes it an offense to stir up hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation.

4. Crown prosecutor said "people are entitled to hold extreme opinions which others may find unpleasant and obnoxious", but they are "not entitled to distribute those opinions in a threatening manner intending to stir up hatred . . . ."

5. The intent of the case is not to curtail "people's religious views or preventing them from educating others about those views" as long as they do it in a "lawful manner and not incite others to hatred."

Several things can be said of the ruling . . .

I. It's a good thing the accused weren't 'saved from being found guilty' through the application of Sharia Law. (Maybe that will come in an appeal stage, if there is one.)

II. It appears, one can express one's beliefs, but not hint that anyone should be killed for what they believe or how they live. So, it appears that it's okay to say "I believe practicing homosexuality is a sin and sinners go to hell" but it's not okay to say or imply that "homosexuals should be killed". And that's exactly right -- that should not be allowed. That's not our call, especially for Christians. We'll leave such actions and beliefs that adherents of a faith have the right to murder others because they don't accept the tenets of their faith, to some other religion, not Christianity or Judaism or Hinduism or Buddhism. Did I miss any? Perhaps intentionally and rightly so.

III. What is scary is that these men were found guilty primarily because at least one witness said he "felt" he was "being targeted" and he "feared he would be burned".

On that last point, there's good news and bad news: On the one hand we could argue that if these men were indeed implying that gays should be killed, then by all means -- whether someone 'felt' he was being targeted or that he 'feared' he would be killed, is immaterial. The men are guilty in either case, with or without that evidence.  The would follow from my understanding of the new UK law.

On the other hand, what if the men were simply stating that "practicing homosexuality is a sin and sinners go to hell" (which I admit was not what they constrained themselves to) and one or more homosexuals then also "felt" they were being targeted or "feared" they would be killed? Could that also be considered sufficient to find the men, under these revised circumstances, guilty?  I believe there's a good chance of that.

That is the problem with laws without absolutes -- or at least with laws without godly absolutes. Sooner or later you get tripped up by the rules.  And sooner or later, enough people don't stand up for the truth.

Anyway, here are the details.

157 Rabbis sign "The Torah Declaration" on Homosexuality. Excellent.

Going strongly and directly against the three-year long campaign of President Obama's administration to push for homosexuality education and other things in our schools, and elsewhere, these 157 rabbis so far and more to come, stand up and out for a sound approach to homosexuality in our society today. Take a look.

Student 'bullied, humiliated' by teacher because they can't support homosexual lifestyle.

As a follow-up to two recent blogs about what schools teach on homosexuality, I came across this article today. And I checked it all out in the local town's newspaper. You can find all those links at the second website I provide below.

The bottom line is that this is going on all the time.

Wondering what a Catholic School Board Does with Sex Education & Homosexuality?

Recently I wrote a blog about what the Toronto District School Board is telling their teachers they must teach your children and grandchildren about six different genders.  Well, a good friend of mine read my blog and sent me a very different picture of what is going on in the Catholic School systems -- in the same district of Toronto mind you.  But I bet that your district's Catholic schools have a much similar approach.  The stark difference will astound you.   Here, with names and other I.D. taken out, I'm sharing with you what he had to say.   Remember, he's an excellent, knowledgeable (as you'll see from what he adds) and committed Catholic and I'm the Protestant that sends my grandchildren to public schools.   He writes:

"As I mentioned to you, my daughter goes to her constitutionally established, publicly funded, religious education school. The TCDSB website is at: www.tcdsb.org and you can use the search to see what they’ve got.

"Here’s a link to the Board’s Religious Education/Family Life page:
http://www.tcdsb.org/religionfamilylife/. Lots of interesting stuff for you there. The program used in the elementary schools is called “Fully Alive” and one of the early topics is “God created us male and female”. We don’t seem to have the 6 genders which the public board has.

"One of the interesting things is a sex ed curriculum from XYZ high school which is the boys school on ABC avenue just west of DEF avenue. Here’s the link (and you can figure out the school from that):
http://www.tcdsb.org/brebeufscience/biotech/edhumlov.html. (Read especially paragraphs or items 101 and 102.)  Nothing near what the TDSB is advocating.

"Here’s the Catechism of the Catholic Church on homosexuality:
http://www.scborromeo.org/ccc/p3s2c2a6.htm#2357. (Read especially paragraphs or items 2357-2359.)  Despite what some may say this is the definitive teaching of the Church. You can see the catechism at the Vatican website here:
http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/_INDEX.HTM but it has a crummy search capability.

"I don’t live under the illusion that people identifying themselves as Catholic Christians follow Church teaching fully. We’re supposed to.  We separate ourselves from the Church if we don’t but some people make that choice. They’re called the “cafeteria Catholics” because they pick and choose which parts of Church teaching they’ll follow. I’m sure we have some teachers who would love to have programs reflecting those in the public board but thankfully they don’t carry the day. We discuss family/health/sexuality issues with our children and they've got a wonderfully formed education and conscience in these areas. They know that homosexuals exist, we don’t  know why they’re homosexuals, they’re people created in the image and likeness of God and we are called to love them. They also know that the acts are wrong if only from the point that God created life and only in the union of man and woman can we participate in that creation."

And then he gives me a sincere wish, "Good luck with the grand kids."  I can only say, I'll need more than luck.   No wonder people are doing everything they can to get their kids into the Catholic school system, at least in Ontario.

Schools & Homosexual Education Plus -- The Actual Curriculum You Need to Know About

I have given you a link to the Toronto District School Board's "Challenging Homophobia and Heterosexism: A K-12 Curriculum Resource Guide, 2011".  It is 223 pages long so I don't expect you to read it.  But let me share with you just a few things you'll find there.  And remember, yes, this is about Toronto -- but most school boards in North America are already there or following suit.  Unless, you can do something about it.   Here are "some" of the highlights only:

1.  For starters, look at the name of the report -- it makes no bones about "fighting (they say challenging) heterosexism".   That's funny, why would they want to challenge something that God ordained?  But they do.  That's enough to tell you the report is faulty from a foundational point of view.  It clearly has a GLBT agenda.

2.  And wait, it is not just about GLBT -- that would be four categories or sexes.  No, the report introduces your kids and my grandkids to six genders.  Just go to page two of the actual report PDF (page numbers are at the bottom right of each PDF page) and you'll see them all: lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, trans-gendered, two-spirited, and queer (LGBTQ) students.  Further down that page they admit their purpose and say it is to render equity to all gender identities and all sexual orientations -- equity mind you.

3. And remember the guide is for education aimed at levels from kindergarten (5 year olds plus) to grade 12 (17 year olds).   Furthermore, still on the same page, it points out that the guide is an "essential tool" to help teachers achieve their teaching "responsibility" to this philosophy that the Ontario government and the Toronto School Board seem to have.

4. Take a look at page 3 and read what they say "Anti-homophobia education is not".  They say it won't 'corrupt' children.  They say it won't 'encourage' children to become one of the six genders.  Heck I'm 64 and I didn't know there were six genders until I read this.  Telling kids they now have six genders to actually choose from is absolutely both corrupting them and encouraging them.

5.  On page 5, they call the whole curriculum "Ethical and Inclusive Pedagogy".  Really, these folks don't have a clue about "absolute ethics" -- absolute ethics come from God alone.  This curriculum is anything but ethical.   It's not even truly inclusive because it certainly alienates a great percentage of parents and students.

6. On page 9 they make it clear that a teacher can't refrain from teaching this curriculum because of fear of parental negative reaction.  But of course, we have teachers and principals all over the place province making concessions like cancelling "Christmas Concerts" or letting kids sing "Merry Christmas" because one or two or nine parents will object and react negatively.  So, so much for this bunk as an argument.

7.  Further down in the same section the report indicates schools and teachers are not to send notes home with students as a 'heads up' of what is going to be covered and that children cannot be excused from these classes on the basis of 'religion' (see p. 10 of report).  They have found a way to ensure that by saying it would violate the Ontario Human Rights Act.  Really???   And neither can teachers object to teaching it based on their 'religious beliefs'.

8. The next fifteen pages are dedicated to information about the GBLT -- their flag, famous gays and lesbians, etc., celebration days, history, archives, and much more.

9.  Then there's a section on how to promote this teaching in the classroom and in the halls, etc. and how to prepare the class (up to page 31).

10. On page 34 teachers are expected to tell children in Junior Kindergarten "what makes up a family" and introduce them to other types of families much different then the ones the majority of them know and experience.  And then tell them all are good alternatives.  Give me a break.  Please.  And it's downhill from there.  On page 37 at the bottom teachers are told to have children role play the opposite sex.

11. On page 53 and following, children from kindergarten and up are introduced to the Pride Week events.  Really?  Yes, really.  On page 56, kids are assigned in groups and asked to role play different same-sex families among other arrangements.  And so far this is primarily for up to grade 3.

12.  Let's now move to Grades 4 to 6 (Junior Level).  Well, no, second thought.  Let's not.  I'm getting sick.  But you can find it all from page 54 to 89  Just to give you a taste, on page 73, teachers are instructed to provide these young students with "a basic knowledge of gay and lesbian vocabulary". On page 81 we read these words: "This activity is meant as a culminating activity in teaching students about gay/lesbian and bisexual issues and homophobia."  Of course, they claim they can do all this without teaching kids about GBLT sex.   Gee, they're good.  I guess they just won't answer the hot questions kids will have.

13. Pages 90 to 154 tell teachers what to tell the Intermediate level (grade 7) and up to the senior level (grade 12) -- typically 12 year olds and up.  The first activity in this section "is designed for students to explore their diverse social identities."  How nice,  they're going to help our children figure out if they're GLBT or one of the other two sexes.  And gee I thought the doctor told us that when they were born.

14.  On page 100, another activity "provides multiple opportunities for a facilitated discussion on whether being LGBTQ is a choice and how the choice to “come out” can help or hurt you in different situations."  Guess what they determine?  Your kids now have some choices in this regard.

15. Page 107 says the teacher will talk to your kids and discuss the following questions and issues:
"What are the situations where it is most difficult to be gay or lesbian?"
'You can’t choose to be gay or straight but you can choose to ‘come out’. Why do you think some people ‘come out’ when they are 14 and others ‘come out’ when they are 40?"  Oh joy.  They may as well ask "and when are you going to come out?"

16.  There are numerous questions that are supposedly intended to help teachers/students get the "temperature" of your kids' school with respect to homophobia.  Here's one of them from p. 130: "When a social event or activity is being planned (e.g. a school dance, the sending of candy grams or flowers on Valentine’s Day), does the organizing committee and school in general consider how this event/activity can be made safe for LGBTQ students?"  And many many more promoting GBLT, etc. lifestyles including this one: "Would two male students or two female students be able to walk hand in hand in your school safely and comfortably?" (page 133)  Man, I'm not sure a boy and a girl should do that in the school, let alone two boys -- this is a place I send my grandchildren to learn, not to 'work on their sexual-social relationships'.

17.  On page 140, teachers are advised to "Have fun! Gender identity and sexual diversity are open to a lot of respectful play."  Yeah really.  Says who?

17. Have you heard enough.  You'll need to find out all the activities that they recommend on your own.  It's tragic.  Pages 155 to 165 give you lists and lists of available organizations willing to help you fight homophobia and promote the six alternative genders.   Can't believe we have so many of them, many of which are supported by your tax dollars at various levels.  Pages 166 to 206 give us literally hundreds, maybe more, books, DVD's, Videos, etc. -- all resources to help us beat homophobia and promote GLBT, etc.   Oh, these people are so helpful.   Pages 207 to 211 give you a wonderful GBLT dictionary of terms.  Yes, you'll get very educated here.

18. On page 212 you can read about what teachers are being told about your rights as a parent when it comes to all this. You don't have any, they say.

Unbelievable.  But I thought you needed to know this.  This is the environment you're sending your children to next time you send them to school now and in 2012 and beyond.  Know the facts.  Know the chances.  Know what's right and what's wrong for your child.

Here's your source for the document:  Click on the link below, scroll down half way until you see a multi-colored cover page (matches the colors of the rainbow flag just by coincidence) and there you can, on the right, click to download the document.  Well worth your investigation.  Here's the link:

May I respectfully suggest you get some parents together and talk about this.  May I suggest that you share it with others in your church, synagogue, temple, or mosque.  May I suggest you pray hard each day about how this teaching will impact your child or grand-child.  May I suggest you think about how you vote when it comes to the school board and the provincial government next time around.  And while you're at it -- how about writing to your school trustee.  In Toronto, you can find their contacts by ward number and a direct email link at: http://www.tdsb.on.ca/boardroom/trustees/ .

Presidential Memorandum -- Why Obama's too busy to fix the Economy.

I could not believe what I was reading on the official White House website. If this is what Obama focuses on and spends his time doing -- then no wonder the U.S. is in the mess it is in.

The Toronto Star reported on December 7th that "The United States will begin using foreign aid to promote gay rights abroad. . . . The move could irritate relations with allies that ban homosexuality, such as Saudi Arabia."

Admittedly, the move comes on the heels of Uganda reopened debate on a bill that outlaws homosexuality in Uganda. But seriously, folks, surely to goodness the Pot-US has bigger fish to fry right now -- or does he? Take a look.
