Whose Creativity Is It Anyway? Maybe President Obama wasn't all wrong when he said, "You didn't build that!"

Imagine Your Natural Inclinations and Skills Being Augmented by the Holy Spirit's Wisdom

Exodus 31:1-11: Now the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “See, I have called by name Bezalel, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. And I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship, to make artistic designs for work in gold, in silver, and in bronze, and in the cutting of stones for settings, and in the carving of wood, that he may work in all kinds of craftsmanship. And behold, I Myself have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the hearts of all who are skillful I have put skill, that they may make all that I have commanded you: . . .” [And then God lists all the things that He had given instructions for in the previous chapters.]
In this chapter God shows us that He knows more about us than one would imagine. First of all, He knows my name (“See, I have called by name Bezalel”). This is the first time we hear this name for this man wasn’t a leader like Moses or Aaron or the patriarchs before them – Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But he was very important to God. The Hebrew word for his name is translated as “in the shadow (i.e. protection) of God”. God had a special role for him to play in His plans. And that is the case for all of us who are willing to serve Him – we all have significance in God’s plan of the ages if we’re willing to seek it and acknowledge it when we find it. And as we prepare to play that role and actually perform it, God will keep us in His shadow; He will protect us, enabling us to fulfill that role He has for us.
Secondly, God knows our history. He knows who our parents were and who our grandparents were (“the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah”). Our unique history and experiences as children and young adults play a considerable role in what it is that God is preparing us to do. He watches us develop and He brings into our lives experiences that will be used by Him for His purposes later on. In my case it was crossing the ocean as a five year old to a new life in a new continent which enabled me to speak two languages and better understand the circumstances of immigrants in a new country; an understanding of what it means for a family to convert from a national religious faith to a one with a personal relationship with Christ – understandings that God has used time and time again through my life, for His purposes.
Bezalel was chosen and called by God for a specific purpose. And when God does that for someone, He then sees to it that He equips the individual for the job he/she was selected for, as indicated in the main part of this small passage (or pericope: /pəˈrɪkəpiː/; Greek περικοπή, "a cutting-out" in rhetoric is a set of verses that forms one coherent unit or thought, suitable for public reading from a text, now usually of sacred scripture). God said of Bezalel, I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship, to make artistic designs. . .”.
It is God that gives us the very essence of who we are that makes us distinct. He shares with us a measure of His own Spirit with respect to wisdom. He gives us a measure of understanding that allows us to operate in the world and relate with both nature and mankind. He imparts to us the very knowledge that we will need in our unique lives. All the thought processes I am using today to write what you are reading are accessible to me because God has put them there. Your specific reaction to what you are reading is possible because God has wired you to respond mentally in a specific way to ideas and other stimuli that you come across.
And then God fills us with abilities that allow us to accomplish work during our lives. These are not always apparent at birth but God sees to it that we develop the physical capabilities of doing things that not everyone can do. And He arranges for us to have experiences that further that development until we become skilled at our craft. God does that for us “that we may work”. We were created to work in this life, to be useful to ourselves, to others, and to God – preferably in the reverse order. A person who is physically and/or mentally capable of work and does not is missing out on the fulfillment of his/her purpose as God intended it. As such, life will not be as rewarding for them.
And this passage also contains, for me at least, an indication God has created us in such a way that we can take what He has filled us with and apply it broadly in His service within our specialty. The text says, “that he may work in all kinds of craftsmanship.” There is inherent in those words a meaning of flexibility and transference. God says, “I’ve given you these skills, now go and use them there.” And ‘there’ may be at a different organization, or it may involve a move across the country, or a commitment to serve on the mission field, or a willingness to keep on using that skill you have after you retire, for the Kingdom of God.
The next key component of God’s knowledge about Bezalel is that God knew and understood that given the size of task He wanted accomplished, Bezalel would need help. So God Himself appointed individuals who would help Bezalel, namely Oholiab among others, people who had a passion for this craft, and the text says God put “skill” in them to satisfy that desire. And the one God names is actually from a totally different tribe than Bezalel. God very clearly wants His people working together for His Kingdom and glory.
We cannot move too quickly past the point of the text that appears to say God filled people with something (skills) that they were already predisposed to in their hearts. While the NASB says God put skill in their hearts, it admits in the margin that literally that word should be “wisdom”. Most other versions rely on that translation of the word NASB translates as “skill” here. So, basically, those that were created with the potential of a skill, and then have that potential developed in practice as part of one’s career or work, God may choose to give them wisdom through the Holy Spirit to augment it. In particular, with this wisdom of God’s, we can both further develop and more importantly, better employ that skill in the service of the Lord. And God Himself says, we are blessed in this way in order “to make all that (God) commanded”.
What I like about NASB’s approach is that it seems to reflect the “blessing” and furthering of the skill that is what God puts in us, with His foreknowledge that we would use it for His purposes and commands.
The current president of the United States who seemed to become well known for his phrase “You didn’t build that!” may have been right after all, but he was wrong in attributing one’s success to the government’s help.  It’s clear from this text that for the believer involved in his Lord’s work, the blessing of skill is a direct gift of God’s to His servants by an actual decision of His. When we move away from that thinking, we lose the Holy Spirit’s involvement in our work, we lose our wisdom from above, and we often also lose our skill.

Maybe Not a "COLD WAR", but a War nontheless: the GLOBAL BULLIES are winning.

NOT a COLD WAR, agreed . . . but a NEW VERSION of WAR:  and we are NOT STANDING UP TO THE BULLIES:

I take issue with Thomas L. Friedman's article on "Taking a pass on a new cold war."  I maintain that he is wrong on at least two counts, maybe more:

It is true this is not a "cold war" we have entered between Russia and the West.  He explains why in his article below.  I am not convinced, however, that we won the cold war and thus can be smug about doing so.  In the enemy's eyes, his job is to find another way to beat us even if he changes the rules.

Putin wants to be all powerful and he needs other states to help him achieve the resources he needs and, to force them to do so, he has the backing of his "nukes".  He does not care about his people being prosperous.  Fair enough.

America and many countries in the west are focusing on being prosperous.  But here's one problem -- America is bungling it big time.  And in so doing, is making itself either an irrelevant "non-player" in games that others play differently (i.e. Putin and his grab for power), or ultimately an easy target for takeover.  Already, through the help of the current President, America has been taken over psychologically -- more and more not seeing it as the great country it used to be.  And the fall?  Well, as the song says, "We've only just begun."

Meanwhile Friedman's third category of states, the ones who find themselves in "disorder" continue to struggle and even grow in numbers.  Bottom line, the Russia-type players take advantage of them and the new-American types just can't be bothered with them.  All makes for a wonderful world, doesn't it?

Friedman asks the question, "So what do we do?"  But, alas, his answer is lame.  He simply declares the U.S. incapable of providing a fix to these situations albeit because of the things he has listed.  But he fails to mention one more -- the unwillingness of the current administration to stand up to the bullies.  Great leaders of the world stand up to bullies in defense of the weak.  And they don't threaten them with noodles like barring them from a G8 they never really cared for.

Friedman has no solution.  He would only agree with a solution that is "self-sustaining".  Well, I have news for you Thomas -- bullies are raised in every generation.  They are a constant thing to be dealt with.  Your easy and everlasting fix, short of a Divine Intervention, does not exist.

And he ends by simply saying, we should have learned to let them (the weak, the disordered ones) solve their own problems.  Not exactly the position the enemy is taking these days, is it?

I was bullied as a kid once and chased home regularly after school.  Then one day my dad happened to be home.  He saw my distress and picked up a broom and just stood behind me, ready to do what every father does who loves his kid.  He didn't have to do much, as I found my courage with him at my side.  And I also found my fists and my legs, reversing the chase.  The bully never bothered me again and actually protected me on occasion.  In my books, the best deterrent to bullies is a good shellacking or the threat of one.

But hey, you're likely a liberal and may well want to read Friedman on this.  So here's his column:
"Don't Just Do Something.  Sit There."   Actually, the title says it all.

Syria timeline: One year on - Interactive

Here is an INTERACTIVE scroll-down list of all the events in the Syrian situation that started one year ago tomorrow.   Not to mention those that have been killed so far.  And TODAY Mr. B.O. announces that it is still premature to move in on Assad.   Happy Syrian anniversary Mr. Pot-US.   I wonder if you'd be doing the same thing -- "sitting on your derriere" and relying on your "do nothing" policies if it were Kenyans being treated like this?   Unbelievable that the West would allow this to go on for a year.

A Senior Democratic Senator and Chair, Senate Intelligence Committee Speaks Out.

What Obama is doing (i.e. nothing) with respect to Iran is totally risky and unjustifiable -- even his own party's senior member of the Senate and Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee thinks he may well be wrong.  Take a look and then decide again who you're voting for this November.

Why Israel, America, and the Rest of the World Cannot Trust Obama

In this excellent article, Charles Krauthammer gives us lots to think about.  He points out all the duplicity of Obama in his statements and actions.  For Obama, it seems, it is all about winning re-election on November 6th and Israel, America, the world go hang.

I am convinced more than ever that Americans AGAINST Obama need to unite and do all in their power to defeat him in the next election.  What they have in the White House right now is a man that can deceive anyone he wants so well with words and phrases and expressions.  America is in bondage with him in the White House.  I don't care about Democrats vs. Republicans as much as I care about America having a person in the White House who is honest and can stand up to, and put a stop, to the Radical Islamic Tsunami that is slowly taking over the world.

But here is Charles K. on the Obama, Israel, and Iran issue.  It is most representative.  This is an article we need to pass on to all our friends and even those that disagree with us.  Please share it.

Obama not only messing America up, he's messing up the entire African continent.

It's funny that this administration generally has a "pull-out" or "pull-back" strategy when it comes to help nations fight dictatorships or regimes that are against human rights, but when it comes to promoting global gay rights, Mr. Obama wants America (or at least American money) to be right there front and center, controlling everything.  I at least I think that's odd.

But maybe not so, if one knows Obama's true agenda.  Anyway, read this fair and balanced account from that stalwart of magazines, The Atlantic, and judge for yourself.

Israel Delays Attack of Iran for "30 Pieces of Military Equipment"

Don't get me wrong -- it's probably a good thing.  We can all breathe for a few more months (until 2013) and give the B.O. a better chance to get re-elected.   But isn't it amazing what "money" can buy?  In this case, American money buys "time" and for B.O. "an election".   My, these guys are smart.

Note to Romney: How To Beat Obama.

Two experts write an excellent "how to" document for the next GOP Presidential Candidate running against the B.O.
After the primaries in Arizona and Michigan, leaving Romney with twice the number of delegates over the 2nd place Santorum, it looks like it may well be Romney. So, Romney (or whichever candidate gets the title come this August), here's some excellent and well-supported advice. . . . Take a look.

Why Sanctions Aren't Working & Won't Work; Yet U.S. Urging Israel to Trust That They Will.

I am convinced -- the West has aged to the point of senility. The attached article will explain clearly enough for even Obama to understand why sanctions are not and will not work. Yet elsewhere in the media, we read of U.S. diplomats traveling to Israel to convince them that they are working. And in fact, even the big B.O. has invited the Israeli P.M. to join him in Washington on March 5th (clearly there's no urgency at all according to B.O.) to convince Netanyahu of the same thing. But deep down when you read stories about what Israel is saying, you'll see that Netanyahu is giving the world every clue possible saying he can't and he won't wait.

Mr. Obama sir your foreign policy reeks of weakness. No one who wants America to be strong and a world leader has any more confidence in you. The world no longer believes they will be punished by the U.S. for any crimes against society they may commit. You have abdicated your role as the "nation that can bring hope to others whose hope is all but gone". The only ones that support you now for the most part (there are exceptions) are those that are unemployed, believe in legalized drugs, abortion, the GBLT movements, and big government doing it all for us, with the money of the hard-working Americas. You've helped make so many of these people, that you just might even win the next election. I hope you and your family and friends are very, very proud of your and their accomplishments.

Now for the rest of us, let's read some more realistic worldviews.

Santorum Should Deny His Denial on Obama's Faith

The link I've provided below gives you some pretty complex sides to this issue. I really do not care how screwed up Santorum gets in his campaigning. It's too bad that he has to back-pedal like this though.

Here's the crux of the matter for me. Santorum is saying that he is not attacking Obama's 'Christianity', only his "worldview". Give me a break. Christianity is indeed wrapped up in having a Christian worldview. If a person does not have that view, than he is not thinking or behaving as a Christian.

While I fully understand that thinking or behaving as a Christian, does not make one a Christian, and that not all Christians immediately adopt the Christian worldview, I am not prepared to assume that someone who says he is as steeped in the faith and keeps referring to it as much as Obama does, can possibly still hold the worldview that he does. And thus, while I am not to judge his personal status as a saved individual or not, I can certainly judge his actions and words. And Santorum should be able to do likewise, just as his actions and words are judged in return, as are mine.

The problem once again seems to be "PC" or "political correctness". Santorum is thinking he'll lose many votes if he comes and out and attacks Obama's faith. And he well may do so. But ideally he should be able to attack Obama on the grounds that the current White House incumbent is not thinking or talking or acting (just think of his views on abortion and homosexuality alone) as a Christian must. Enough said.

Santorum, please smarten up or go down like the rest of them.

Diplomats Say Iran Poised for Big Nuke Expansion

Here's the latest from the Associated Press on Iranian nuclear developments -- and the diplomats involved in providing the information are fairly confident that the only reason for these developments is to employ the products with respect to nuclear warheads. [The president meanwhile may be out golfing -- I'm only guessing.]

Seriously though sooner or later (hopefully sooner) someone will not be taking chances like the current administration in Washington is.

Some people do not want to attack Iran at all. Most westerners would agree to attack Iran if we knew 100% that they had nuclear warheads.

The problem is we may never have that privilege. As I see it there are clearly two choices when it gets to this point: "A nuclear war with Iran having nuclear warheads and its associated consequences" or a "war, perhaps nuclear, without Iran having nuclear warheads and its consequences". If you were Israel, or if you were the president of the United States, which of the two choices would you pick?

Hey Canada Look -- Our Supreme Court Thinks Its American.

Here we go, Canada. Our Supreme Court with its decision today telling parents they cannot take their kids out of "Ethics and Religious Culture" course in Quebec, may as well have been appointed by the great Obama down south.

Unfortunately, I don't think the CCCC's have gone far enough in their commentary on this ruling. For example, I don't object to "comparative religion" as it is a parents and grandparents job to pass on their faith to children and grandkids.

What I do object to, though, is if indeed the "course" assumes or projects the idea that what I believe in is simply "legends" or "myths". At the very least the course needs to be neutral and say, "Christians believe that . . . ". I wonder if the CCCC's made that argument or whether they went for the right of parents to withdraw children instead and ended up losing the baby with the bathwater. Just wondering. You be the judge.

Why Are Ex-Presidents Such Idiots?

First there was Carter. And now there's William Clinton. Two has beens that should stick to peanut-farming and golf, respectively.

Clinton is now blaming jihadist Islamic terrorism on "poverty". If the Muslims weren't so poor, they wouldn't be staging jihad he basically says. So, it's not their fault. It's everybody else's fault for all the inequality that they experience. Well, maybe Obama can come to their aid and take money away from Romney and Buffet and the rest of the 1%ers and spread it around the world to Muslims so that we can eliminate the threat or radical Islamic terrorists.

Yea, that will work Bill. Thanks so much. You're so smart. That's why Monica fell for you many years ago. (Wait, erase that, that's not fair.)

Man, these guys are really dumb, though, don't you think?

Rex Murphy on Obama’s war against Christianity: When the Church Struck Back.

As usual Rex Murphy does a great job on telling it like it is. However, his story sticks with how we got there in the first place and ends simply with the 'shift' of the onus to provide free contraceptives to the insurance companies.

What he does not write about and I wish he would, is: First, the lameness of the B.O.'s about-face -- I mean, phrases like, "and as a Christian" -- oh, please, give me a break in life. And second, and perhaps more importantly that what he has done is really smoke and mirrors. In essence, the insurance companies will recover these increased costs by passing them on to the employers (perhaps especially religious ones) through increased rates for current programs minus the contraceptives. So you'll still have the Catholic institutions and others who object to paying for them, doing so indirectly but not being guilty of actually providing them. To those who are sincere in their beliefs -- this slight of hand just is not sufficient.

And finally, I would not put it past this administration to have even suggested to the insurance companies to take the 'virtual' hit (after all, look at what this administration has done for them with obamacare), but pass the costs on as they see fit. I mean, do you really hear any of them screaming blue bloody murder? I don't.

Catholics Reject Obama's Orders and Take Him On

This looks good on Obama. More components of Christianity should have the guts to stand up against this administration on many issues. This one alone is enough to defeat Obama -- not because it's about abortion, but because it's about a President who is basically saying, "I don't give a da__ about your religion."

Enough is enough. Didn't someone in part of Europe who was the cause of two world wars say something like that to a whole race once and then proceeded to try and annihilate them? I think so. Let's not go there. If Americans who do believe (or who believe in the right to believe if one so chooses) do not commit to doing all they can to defeat this current president in the next election, we can all kiss our right to faith good-bye.

The Catholic Church Has Launched A Fight Against Obama That's Unprecedented In American History

Did Obama Say "America's Back!"? I don't think so.

This article says it all. The U.S. is not what it used to me, thanks to Mr. Obama's first term of office. Can you imagine where it would be if he a second?

More Banking Sanctions vs. Iran, But Obama slow to implement the ones he has.

The link below should help you catch up on the latest news regarding the Iran Nuclear Weapon Development topic.

Europe has voted to stop buying Iranian oil later in July. Tehran is discussing legislation that will cut off the Europeans immediately.

Now the U.S. is considering more sanctions in the banking sector for Iran, but how quickly they be implemented if they get the vote on February second is anybody's guess.

The fact is that Obama's administration is not implementing with any great hurry the two different sanctions they got approved on December 31, 2011. They either don't know how to or more likely they are hesitating because it just doesn't sit well with their "let's not get Iran upset at all" ideology.

Meanwhile, Iran continues on its merry way getting closer to having the capability of launching nuclear weapons for chances are they already have the weapons.
