#49 -- Judges 14:1-4

Now old enough to make decisions, Israel's Judge #12 has a very shaky start that will cost him, even though the Spirit of the Lord was stirring within him. We can well learn some things about how we make decisions from this passage. Join us.   Use the LINK:  https://youtu.be/pAL-hboG8Jw

  1. This episode has a personal meaning for me. The Bible says "Be not unequally yoked" which, as you explained has potentially destructive consequences. My father, who was a dedicated Christian married my mother before she was saved in opposition to this rule. However God had His hand in it. She was saved shortly after and was as godly a mother as I have ever met, She made us memorize scripture, do weekly Bible study books and go to church 3 times a week. Mom never deviated from her strong Christian beliefs , actions and witness and every one of her 3 sons were led to a knowledge of the Saviour. Nevertheless, she continually warned us against unsaved girls and told us what could happen if we did. We followed that advice and all of us are still married to our first and only wife. (Ron passed on to glory 6 years ago just shy of his 50th anniversary. So I guess you could say Dad's choice was of the Lord.

    1. Wonderful personal account, Bob. Thank you so much. God can, and often does, work with those of us who may still have disobeyed Him. That's His Grace.
Sometimes as I mentioned non-believers make better spouses and coming to the LORD after that is a wonderful blessing and a bonus for the spouse. On the other hand, sometimes those we thought were Christians don't always 'stay' that way when the rub hits the road and things get tough. And sometimes, those that do become Christians after marriage may not mature in their faith as one would have likes.
Congratulations to all you boys who stayed the distance. Chrysogon and I just came back from a little trip celebrating our 50th as well. God is good and wiser than all of us together. Ken.
