The Details on the Obamacare Unconstitutional Ruling and What Happens Next
But you know at this point, I really don't care any more. In one sense, it does not matter. What matters here is that we have a piece of legislation rammed through in an unconventional manner and over 50% of the subordinate states to the Federals are against it and prepared to take it all the way if necessary. (B.O. is likely to appeal upwards.) That in itself -- that 50% of the states oppose -- is worthy of utter shame to any incumbent in the White House. But that's assuming the man really cares about shame and has an understanding of it. Take a look at the details.

Not much. You can't do anything. It's in God's hands. But you can't sit on your "butt" or "fanny" either. You need to act and do all you can to stem the tide.

"I am the way, the truth, and the life." (found in the gospel of John, chapter 14, verse 6, in the Bible)
Charles F. Stanley has this to say on that:
"When we become a friend of Jesus, something revolutionary happens inside us.
"Our spirits, our hearts, our souls, our perspectives on life, and our capacities to love all change dramatically. We become a 'new creation.' . . .
"Jesus gives to us something aar more valuable than any human friend can ever give: he reveals to us the truth about God . . . the truth about ourselves . . . the truth about the relationship He desires to have with us . . . an the truth He desires for us to have with other human beings. He reveals in His own presence within us the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. He is Truth."
This is the only true and most viable alternative these days.

That The World May Not Know. . . Shame! Shame! Shame!
Did they actually think this would not be noticed? And after the games, then what? Let them beg. Wow.
Three hundred beggars getting paid $2.11 per day for over 40 days. What a price for "national good looks through cosmetic reconstruction of who can walk on our streets".
And oh, get this. They're doing it for us -- the tourists and guests that need to walk freely on the streets during this "prestigious event". And who are the tourists? The rich that can afford to go there in the first place. Yes, let's keep the rich from seeing the truth by all means. Give me a break in life, please.
The only thing I can say to India and whoever thought this up, in this day and age is what my father used to say in his broken English when he was disgusted with things leaders (or church people would do or not do): "Shame! Shame! Shame!" It fits. Wear it well, India.

What I Saw in "127 Hours" Is Most Powerful, If You Let It Be
Let me just tell you what I could not help but see as I sat there in the theater watching it. Several scenarios came to mind. But first let me share what was playing on the screen. Here was a man left alone with nature. There was no one to help him. He wanted to live life alone, not even telling people where he was going or what he was doing. In everything he took on to do, he ignored the advice of experts and did it his way. Now, trapped deep in a canyon, there was precious little he could do. His situation got worse and worse. His body and then his mind started to become affected by the accident. Many scenes from his life from birth to the present kept flashing through his mind and often seemed to be relived there in front of his eyes in the canyon of death. But what was I thinking as I watched this?
The camera work was so good that even though it was not 3D, I still felt I was right there within feet of his agony, but there was absolutely nothing I could do. Like a young male teenager who sees a beautiful movie star walk a red carpet in front of him, or like a child in a Belgian chocolates store I could watch, but could not touch, even to help in case of the star tripping or the chocolates spilling to the floor. That feeling alone when felt in conjunction with watching someone die, was very uncomfortable.
The first off-screen scenario that came to my mind was that of my father in his hospital bed on his last day of life, December 31, 2006. His lungs had collapsed from all the cancerous growths in his body, and the doctors had, after speaking with us, just given him what was required to ease the pain but not try to delay the inevitable. I saw my father stretching out his hands and uttering any sounds he could, begging for help and gasping for air. In seconds, he was gone and it was over. There was nothing more I could do. In thinking about it this morning as I write, I am also reminded of my mother's death, twenty-four years prior to my dad's. It was similar. I had taken her into the hospital in the ambulance. She was in coma. Only this time I was not present when she died. I simply got the call in the middle of the night from the hospital. When I hung up the phone, this feeling of helplessness lingered for some time.
The second scenario that came to mind as I was viewing 127 Hours was the story of The Rich Man and Lazarus found in Luke chapter 16 of the Bible. The rich man had died and ended up in Hades but he could see the poor man Lazarus (not the brother of Mary and Martha that Jesus raised from the dead in another part of scripture). Anyway, the rich man (who lived life his way not paying attention to the rules) was begging Father Abraham to allow Lazarus who had also died and was resting in Abraham's bosom, to "dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off" his tongue, for he was "in agony in this flame." The main character in 127 Hours was in the same situation, progressively dying from thirst and the director had great footage of the 'need for water' image. That alone was worth the movie. But you need to read the rest of this story of Lazurus to better understand why I related it in my mind to the movie I was watching (click here).
The final image I kept seeing was that of my friends and loved ones who at the time of their own death could not save themselves, No matter how smart they were, there was nothing they could. They had lost the game they thought they were playing and winning. Doing it their way didn't amount to anything but insects crawling over their bodies and unanswered calls to a God they had never recognized as even existing during their lives. I was not comfortable in my seat at all.
I immediately thought of an 82 year old neighbor living alone that had suffered a stroke this past week and was found by police four days later, still alive. I had last visited him 13 months earlier, taking him Christmas dinner and visiting briefly. I prayed in the theater that I would have one more chance to visit him in the hospital before he died. I resolved to do that. At the very least I would talk to him about dying, salvation through Jesus Christ, and what happens "One Second After You. . .Die". That is, providing he was still alive.
I also resolved to continue to seek every opportunity I get to share my own personal experience -- with this movie, my life, and my God to whomever I get an opening to do so. I will look for those opening much more fervently. Seeing this movie last night may have started out to be 'by accident' but as the main character in the movie suggests in the end -- 'nothing is by accident'.

Who's Working Behind the Scenes In Egypt?
The Egyptian Unrest: A Special Report | STRATFOR: "This report may be forwarded or republished on your website with attribution to www.stratfor.com"
Saturday Late Afternoon News -- Jan. 29, 2011, CNN's push, the army, B.O., beware of democracy
The Army in Egypt is not stopping the looting, but "urging" protesters not to loot. Now, that's effective. BBC reports that army is now appealing to protesters to also respect the curfew. Is it possible they're getting the word that soon they'll need to take action?
On Saturday (today) B.O. met with his national security team on the subject of Egypt -- proof he's watching it carefully. They are likely making plans as to what they will be required to do once Mubarak steps down.
We need to be mindful of the fact that while the world may see the events in Egypt as a "pro-democracy" revolution, we need to be very careful to distinguish between different types of democracy. Let us not fool ourselves, as one BBC commentator wisely pointed out -- these protesters have some very wild ideas including a very high proportion of them wanting some strong penalties for certain crimes -- including the cutting off of fingers and hands and arms. We may get a democracy but it will be clearly on Islamic terms when it finally arrives. Nothing short of that will satisfy the Muslim Brotherhood.
BBC reports that army is calling on Egyptian Patriots to help stop the looting and the rioting in an effort to protect their families and the country. Interesting.

Saturday Afternoon Musings @ 1:45 p.m. EST -- January 29, 2011, looting, Iran next?, note to Pastors
Some analysts have been watching Iran this past week and wondering whether the people who protested about a year and a half ago are watching Egypt and saying "why not us, if Egyptians succeed". If that's the case, keep an eye on Iran. I'm sure Ahmadinejad has his ear to the ground -- or at least he has delegated that to one of his boys. But the potential here is great.
And Pastors, what will you say about Egypt tomorrow? If you remain silent, you are telling your congregation that what is happening in the rest of the world does not impact or affect us Christians here. That would be a very bad message. Please tell us what you plan to say.
Meanwhile, Israel is watching all this with great interest and thinking long-term. So they should. I just wish the Western Allies would do likewise. Did you notice that the United Kingdom leaders are very quiet. Of course, they probably have more Islamists to fear in their countries than most of us. The world continues to be paralyzed into silence.
How are you feeling? Are you afraid? Do you care? If the former, that's normal and to be expected. If the latter, don't complain later. If the former, you may wish to reconsider where you'll spend tomorrow morning. Is it time to visit a place of worship near you? That's not the ultimate answer, but you just may hear about the One Who alone can bring you peace. What have you got to lose? Nothing, but if we're right -- you have much to gain now and in the hereafter.
Alternatively, just keep watching CNN and increase your fear factor. It's still a free world here.

The Clear and Worrisome Choices of the Egyptian Military Right Now
Egypt's military in a quandary - Middle East - Al Jazeera English: "t"
Is it time to rethink the relationship of Religion and Politics?
I do agree in her one phrase, "rational debate . . . is not possible most of the time." But, I also
believe we need to find a way to discuss religion with politics and vice-versa. We have ignored them too long. We have tried to separate church and state when they cannot be. Certainly the new world (the emerging Islamic world that is now in our face) is not seeing them or treating them that way.
I am not sure that Jesus would have us treat them that way, either. Yes, He said we are to render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto God what is God's, but I believe that is all about obeying both in as far as it is possible. That is, obeying the laws of the land where they do not contradict God's. Other places in scripture bear that out. But I believe He wants us to take our "faith" into our lives and that includes into our civil responsibilities -- into our votes and into our influencing of others. In short, into our blatant and not so blatant politics. If our Lord cannot be our Lord in our politics (not necessarily the world's views, but ours), then can He be Lord of any thing? And if He is Lord of my politics, then I must share Him when I share my views on politics. In fact, I would go as far as to say, now is a good time for all good (Christian) men (and women) to come to the aid of their faith and take advantage of the times -- times when government without faith in God has proven to be a total failure.
These are just my thoughts. What do you think?
Saturday Morning Musings -- January 29, 2011
Civil Unrests as of January 29th: Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Lebanon, Aleria, Jordan, Yemen. That's seven. What's going on?
Egypt: Four o'clock curfew on Saturday in Egypt is being basically ignored. Mubarak holding on, but people insistent.
Turning Enemies Into Friends: It is interesting that as we face a world of "enemies", the New Testament gives us perhaps the only proven methodology for turning enemies into friends. It says, "Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you." Wow. That's in Matthew 5:44. We are told, "if you do this, God will reward you." So, how does all this play out with respect to what is going on in the world today -- in Egypt, in Israel, and everywhere else? Charles Stanley has a suggestion. He says, "(do what the verse says) Even if your enemy continues to persecute you and do evil to you, God will find a way to bless you." So that's it. We won't necessarily be blessed by man, or what we expect in term's of physical blessings, but we will be blessed by God. That's so hard to live by but yet, it may, in this world where God's arch-Enemy, Satan still is allowed to wield his power, it may just be the only salvation. I encourage you to think about it.
Egypt's New Vice-President: Omar Suleiman, Egypt's spy chief appointed as new Vice-President of the country. Could he take over from Mubarak? Remains to be seen. Also, Ahmed Shafiq, the minister of civil aviation, has been named the new prime minister.
