What Am I Missing Here? 1,027 Palestinian prisoners for one Israeli Prisoner. What kind of deal is that?

Okay, help me out here. The "parties" have just agreed to exchange prisoners. One for 1,027. Good deal. I don't see it.

With this deal, Israel will have gotten back a hero. Yes.
With this deal, Israel will have saved itself millions of dollars in the cost of taking care of these prisoners.
With this deal, Israel will save itself the world outcry down the road of killing some of these prisoners that have been sentenced to death.
Maybe it wasn't a bad deal after all.

On the other hand, Israel will have released over 1,000 prisoners that are now more anti-Israel than ever -- if that's possible, given why they were caught in the first place.

So, all in all, I'm not sure how good a deal this really was. I'm sure the two parties think it's a great deal. But from what I read, the Palestinians are getting more "bang for their buck" on this one.

What do you think?
