Leslie H. Gelb discusses Egyptian Devils -- the one we know and the ones we don't.

An important warning to the American government and to the West from Gelb, who is a former New York Times columnist and senior government official, is author of Power Rules: How Common Sense Can Rescue American Foreign Policy (HarperCollins 2009), a book that shows how to think about and use power in the 21st century. He is president emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations.

And while we're at this, let me ask you a question:  When you listen to the protesters and to those that would replace Mubarak (like ElBaradei), don't you consider it strange that the their one and only one request is for Mubarak to leave.  I understand the frustration -- but no one has really clearly made a list of reasonable and desirable conditions for change.  Just thinking.
